Say No to Confederate flag

A bad idea today

Sign our petition against the Confederate flag on I-95. It's 2013 and we're looking to the future, not the past.

As Americans, we support the Constitution's First Amendment. It protects everyone's free speech rights. But that doesn't make it a good idea to fly the Confederate flag in 2013.

That's because today, the Confederate flag is a divisive symbol. It's easy to see why. In the 1950s and 1960s, people used it to combat the movement to include all Americans in the basic civil rights that we all share. Many of our parents and grandparents lived through that time.

So it's no surprise that the Confederate flag angers people today. That alone is reason enough to oppose the flying of the Confederate flag.

But the problem is even bigger than that -- because Richmond is a city on the move, and yesterday's tired debates threaten to hold us back economically. Businesses won't invest and create new jobs in Richmond if they a city looking backward, not forward.

We're moving forward in RVA, and we want you to join us!

Please sign our petition AGAINST the flying the Confederate flag in Richmond.

And then, please join us in saying YES to the AMERICAN flag!
